The Coming of a New Order

This twenty-minute documentary, the "Coming of a New Order"
is a history program designed for middle and upper primary and lower secondary
school, and tells the story of the Aboriginal People of Australia's Kimberley
district, whose history with the land dates back over 50,000 years, to
when man first settled on the Australian continent.
As well as being one of the first areas settled, the Kimberley was also
to become one of the last areas of productive land in Australia, where
Indigenous People lived in their traditional manner, free from the influence
of European settlement.
The program shows how the intrusion of European gold miners and pastoralists,
following Alexander Forrest's 1879 expedition of discovery, brought about
a period of change and upheaval to this ancient civilisation, and introduced
the Indigenous People to a New Order that was to challenge their very
existence.
The program consists of one DVD documentary, and one CD-ROM, which contains

sheets. Formatted for Windows 95+ computers.

Australia's Yesterdays

Australia's Yesterdays comprises of six dramatised audio programs that
can be played on any Audio CD player or as CD-ROMs playable on a Windows

the important events in Australia's history and the people who moulded
a virgin land into the Australian nation. As well as the famous names
Governor Phillip, Governor Macquarie, Edward Hargreaves, Ned Kelly, Alfred
Deakin and the like, the ordinary man of the day is depicted; the squatter,
the gold digger, the convict, the bushranger and the lesser known founding
fathers.
The titles in the "Australia's Yesterdays" series are:
First Settlement Why was Australia settled? How did the first settlers,
willing and unwilling, survive in the strange new land? These and many
other questions are posed and answered in this CD.
Convicts The brutality of the convict system has long scarred Australia's
conscience. What was the system really like? The story of convicts examines
all aspects of the system and those who participated in it.
Squatters Australia's first taste of wealth and security came with
the discovery that the continent was ideally suited to the rearing of
sheep. This CD follows the story of the squatter, the man who tamed the
inland wilderness.
Gold The story of the Australian gold rushes is full of spectacle
and pathos. From the view point of the ordinary gold digger, the joys,
the trials and the tribulations of these men are examined.
Bushrangers Almost from the first settlement, bushrangers roamed
the Australian outback. This CD follows the development of bushranging
from the early convict escapees to the wild colonial boys like Ben Hall
and Ned Kelly.
Federation By 1901 Australia was federated into a single nation.
The decisions made by the founding fathers in the preceding years have
irrevocably determined the subsequent growth of the nation.
The preparation work required of the teacher is minimal. Each title has
a Teacher's Guide which lists objectives, rationale, teaching suggestions
and vocabulary of difficult words and phrases. Included also is a Student's
Listening-aid sheet and a Post Listening Developmental work sheet. All
