Australia's Yesterdays
An Australian produced educational multimedia program on Audio CD

First Settlement
Why was Australia settled? How did the first settlers, willing and unwilling,
survive in the strange new land? These and many other questions are posed
and answered in this CD.

Convicts
The brutality of the convict system has long scarred Australia's conscience.
What was the system really like? The story of convicts examines all aspects
of the system and those who participated in it.
Squatters
Australia's first taste of wealth and security came with the discovery
that the continent was ideally suited to the rearing of sheep. This CD
follows the story of the squatter, the man who tamed the inland wilderness.
Gold
The story of the Australian gold rushes is full of spectacle and pathos.
From the view point of the ordinary gold digger, the joys, the trials
and the tribulations of these men are examined.
Bushrangers
Almost from the first settlement, bushrangers roamed the Australian outback.
This CD follows the development of bushranging from the early convict
escapees to the wild colonial boys like Ben Hall and Ned Kelly.
Federation
By 1901 Australia was federated into a single nation. The decisions made
by the founding fathers in the preceding years have irrevocably determined
the subsequent growth of the nation.
The preparation work required of the teacher is minimal. Each title has
a teacher's guide which lists objectives, rationale, teaching suggestions
and vocabulary of difficult words and phrases. Included also is a student's
listening-aid sheet and a post listening developmental work sheet.
All back-up material can be accessed and printed from the Audio CD by
a Windows 95 or later computer.
